Guest guest
Hello all.. Amoxicillin was prescribed by my pediatrician for my sons pink eye and ear infection. it dawned on me that it might have gluten in it, but it's just one thing after the other and I am desperate for his ear infections to clear up. They have blocked his hearing before and it seems he doesnt go long without getting another one(despite tube placement too!) We are on day 7 of the antibiotics, the pink eye is gone and I am going to discontinue the antibiotics. I know for sure now that it contains gluten, I'm annoyed because hes been GFCF since October and it's made a HUGE difference. I ALWAYS investigate all ingredients but like I said I'm at a loss with these ear infections. They are keeping him from excelling to his full potential, and I dont know how to treat them otherwise. It's exhausting being skeptical of every single thing esp. when I feel like I'm the only one in my family that really " gets " what a difference it makes for him and always feel like I have to constantly defend it. They all acknowledge how far he's come, but they dont think about how hard sticking to this diet is (instead Ive heard them- my husbands family- talk about how rigid I am about the diet behind my back and had my mo in law leave me print outs of the diet guidelines even though she only sees him like once every 2 months-as if I dont kill myself researching every single day) and also how my son who never flaps and goes months without stimming at all- starts flapping after exposure..Nothing for months to flapping and stimming!! Not to mention how isloating it is to have therapy for him 25 hours a week for which I HAVE to be here in the house with my typically developing 10 month old son who is super happy and social but doesnt get opportunity to enjoy all of the fun things the bay area has to offer for him.. Anyway if anyone can give me advice to alternatives you use to treat ear infections, pink eye etc. thats GFCF. I also learned(not suprisingly that erythromycin also contains gluten. Wonderful I've been giving that to my 10 mo old for the last couple of days.. **Thanks for letting me vent, everyone has hard days..My usually even tempered little boy is especially fussy which doesnt help matters..I feel guilty because I know gluten is to blame..DAMN!
