Guest guest
There has been some interesting work on an operantly conditioned aspect of allergic reactions. For one, an experiment was done in Canada to examine why organisms die of anaphylactic shock, in the absence of allergins. The study was conducted with rats, with lumens introduced to the stomach (to collect mast cells) and exposed to egg white injections with a buzzer and a flash of light imposed simultaneously. After only a few trials (I think two) the animals continued to show mast cell spikes when the light and buzzer were issued (but no egg exposure). The study was circa late 80's and my records are presently packed (moving) but if I get a chance to locate the study, I will send it along. As for me, if I am going to encounter a known allergin, I take a Benedryl type pill. For me, as an animal trainer and horse rider, I encounter lots of dust, hair and poison ivy (usually not dietary ;->). I get a very severe reaction to poison ivy, which I can really nip in the bud with Benedryl. Regards, Kayce From: " T. I intend to be VERY careful when testing nuts sometime (hopefully) when this clears up. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Sorry, that should be classically conditioned, not operantly conditioned. I know that in this crowd someone will notice <G>!
