Guest guest
, In Edmonton, Alberta...... we barely have a hockey team never mind hippotherapy! So...... I bet you are getting some wonderful work done. Because I used to ride at a high level (been to the Junior Canadian Championships a couple of time when I was a kid).... I could probably develop my own program...... That is just a pipe dream though.... it is just too expensive to ride here anymore. But if others couldnt find hippotherapy, I am sure that straight riding would really produce a lot of benefits even just in developing overall muscle tone. I have seen ads for that therasuit a long time ago...... I cant remember which website introduced it to me. I suspect that I would have a devil of a time getting Mark to put it on! Guest guest
A qualified OT specialist provided Hippotherapy to my daughter.. we were involved appro 8 months and beside riding she was enthralled with the care and feeding of the horses. If you qualifiy for OT thru your insurance you may try this angle as we did. By the time we left she was ready for more vigorous riding also the intense verbal questioning was not helping only adding stress. The OT was good but again PROMPT was what help my daughters speech not drills. My daughter saw an excellent speech therapist there. This is where I'm talking about taking my Asa. The gal's name is Meredith who does the speech, and she does private speech without the hippotherapy as well as WITH it. Would you happen to have her phone number that you can send me privately? For some reason, the number was in my original therapist contacts and it's among the missing with my files now. <sigh> I know several teens in our home schooling group who have volunteered with Starlight Farms, so I can't say ENOUGH good about the place! Guest guest
My daughter, Francesca (who suffers from severe verbal apraxia), goes to Starlight Farm every Tuesday and does Hippotherapy with Meredith who has done wonders with her. She has improved tremendously with her motor skills as well as her speech. Francesca really looks forward to riding every week.
