Guest guest
I felt scared too about putting my child in school, early childhood special education. It has been the best decision of our lives. It has made him more independant and social and they are very good to him, he gets to get out of the house and be with other kids, sometimes we just have to do things scared. Guest guest
The 1st day I sent my kid to school I thought I was going to be sick all day long. I am a teacher and it was the start of the school year so I couldn't take off. He was just starting at a daycare where he didn't know anyone, couldn't talk, wasn't potty trained and so on. He had been watched by family prior to that. He was going from a place he didn't know, where he cried when dropped off, on a bus to a place he had never ever been (a public school). I had met the teacher 1X. I so thought I was going to be sick I was so nervous and stressed. He has grown tremendously, has learned to play with his toys appropriately and he gained friends. We were told he was mentally retarded and autistic before we sent him. He is now Mr. Social (we call him the Mayor), and we are still figuring out the cognitive ability thing. It is scary!!! The teacher was warm and let me come observe later which made me feel better. He had a communication book and she let me know how he was doing. Good luck with your decision! Guest guest
A communicaton book is a must-have! My son's teacher and I communicate and discuss every little thing that I observe and vice versa. She will provide me with suggestions with how to improve my concern or just provide me with encouragement when needed. I was very lucky in that my son loved going to school from Day 1 @ age 3 and going on the bus all by himself!. He is very social. It's funny that you call you son the Mayor..My son is called the Game show Host. He likes to introduce everybody in his class to whoever walks in the classroom! Guest guest
I too did it scared, I felt sick all day when my son was gone, and I cried, he was not potty trained or had much speech. Now I am going through the same feelings, with kindergarten, it never gets easier, they are always your baby. Good luck.
