Guest guest
Janice not sure if you know that borage oil may be a problem in large dosages if it's not made from the borage seed alone. The ProEFA contains borage oil from just the seed. If you use another brand make sure it's from the borage seed -not the entire plant. (has to do with a study about the PAs which could be in the plant) And Liz -another Omega 6 that is found in both Efalex and EyeQ is Primrose oil and it's also used with success for most. For most -we only need about a 5 to 1 ratio of Omega 3 (preferably EPA not so much DHA) over the GLA. Again I am only addressing the majority which is where I advice new people to start...and if that doesn't work for some reason your child is probably in the less than 10% to explore other means. Perhaps the answer to know for sure what formula of fish oil is needed isn't even being used yet to test the children here that are found to be " high " or " low " in this or that since we are dealing with neurological conditions -so we need to know what crosses the blood brain barrier not what's showing up in the blood. Also what part of the blood is being tested? Here's more on that from an archive of information from 2002 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~yes another start of another archive Re: New Member-Debby, Yeah!, and a few questions. Debbie -the signs EFAs are working come in one day to three weeks almost across the board when it's the right formula and dosage, and when your child is in the majority (who it works for) http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/Englemed.html http://www.cherab.org/information/historyEFA.html There appears to be only a handful it doesn't work for -and they may be the rare child who would have had apraxia anyway. Apraxia used to be rare -and from the families that have apraxic children now -it's not genetic -nobody knows where it's from! (especially in Jersey where historically we all speak a mile a minute!) If you didn't see the messages on this and don't know how to search - go to messages. Look for the search box and put in key words like ProEFA and press go. If you don't see what you are looking for -press next till you do. Here is almost all of the archive message here http://www.speech-express.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=620 One question I have is what is the formula and brand name of " Omega supplements " you are using -fish oils are not all the same. Look at the bottle and please post the DHA, EPA and GLA etc. here. Thanks! As far as books -I co authored The Late Talker with neurodevelopmental pediatrician Dr. Marilyn Agin who is the Medical Director for NYC Early Intervention (the largest of it's kind in the US) and Malcolm Nicholl who is an international journalist and also the co author of The LCP Solution book with Dr. Stordy (the creator of the Omega 3 and Omega 6 Efalex EFA formula most of us used years ago before ProEFA) Dr. Agin recently wrote the cover feature article for the pediatric medical trade magazine Contemporary Pediatrics.
