Doctors suggested from Washington DC/NY area?

This mom is visiting from Italy and is seeking help. I know a few MDs

from the NY area but who does anyone suggest in the DC area? Please

let us know here as well even if you email her so we have it for

future reference:

A Mother from Italy

Hi,

my name is Lucilla and I have a 7 year daughter who has apraxia and

some developmental delays.

I am desperate, because she really wants to talk, but she does not

manage and she bites her hand all the time.

I am currently in Washington DC with my daugher to make some oral

motor therapies.

Could you please suggest me some doctors in Washington DC or in NY

who are really expert in apraxia that I could go to see during my

stay here.

Please help me.

Hi Lucilla,

Here are two DAN! drs in the DC area, both are very familiar w/apraxia and

developmental delays.  We just saw Dr. Megson who was excellent.  And while we

haven't seen Dr. Compart personally, I've heard great things about her, as well.

Just an FYI, Dr. Megson is about 1 1/2 hour drive from DC, Dr. Compart is a bit

closer, maybe 45 min-1 hr. Both do have pretty long waiting lists to get an

appt, so I'm not sure how long you're going to be in the DC area for, but it'd

be worth a call to see if they'd be able to see your daughter some time during

your stay. Here's the info for both:
