Guest guest
Diane, We have used Solaray Multidophilus Plus DDS-1. I'm quite sure I have seen it in several health food stores and I'll bet you can find it online too. Guest guest
Jenni, I just went through my own probiotic angst. If you e-mail me privately, I will send you all the information this group provided to me and what we've ended up using. > > > Hi, > > A quick thanks to EVERYONE in this online community. You are amazing, courageous people and I get so much strength from your encouragement and advice. > > We just started enzymes this week (AFP) - Mikey's a little more hyper, but we're hopeful that we'll be seeing some improvement soon. We've been casein free for over a year and in that year he hasn't had one formed stool. From what I've read, it looks like a probiotic may help us out in this area. There's a number of options to choose from however and I'm looking for some help in selecting one. Any advice on brand/type/dosage would be so appreciated. > > Thanks so much, > > Jenni > > > > >
Guest guest
I have tried both. I think it depends on what issues the person has at what time. I am new to this group. I found you just like from MB12. I love the theory of fish oils and VitE. I am starting both of them in a few days. I am right in the middle of the Vit K protocol, trying to get Brady up to the full strength of Vit K, iodine, and Vit D3. Brady has been on VSL DS (double strength) for 8 weeks. It has 450 billion for half of a sachet. VSL has lactic acid that degrades the oxalates, but lactic acid is not SCD legal. A little background on Brady: he did Valtrex and Diflucan last fall and had a massive yeast die off. After about 6 weeks of Diflucan, my insurance company said Brady had enough Diflucan for the year, so I then tried Threelac to kill off any remaining yeast. I thought Threelac would be a piece of cake. Not at all. I only gave Brady a small sprinkling of Threelac (it comes in a little sachet). He cried and cried. This was the time I thought he was having a urinary tract infection: genital grabbing, crying when urinating, etc. Then I found out about oxalates and VSL, and then, in February, Vit K. Brady had massive watery diarrhea on VSL for 6 weeks until I started Vit K. After two weeks of one drop of Vit K three times/day, he started having solids in his bms. Now, after twp drops TID for 2 weeks, I am seeing more solids consistently. Brady is eight years old and non-verbal, SLP says apraxic. So here I am. I do think Brady has had oxalate problems for years. And, coupled with yeast...yikes! I have a paper I wrote to my family and his teachers back in Jan when I was trying to figure this out. I chronicled my detective work investigating oxalates because everyone thinks I am crazy. Sound familiar? I know this not the apraxia topic stuff, but if anyone wants the paper, contact me offline: taccetta@... Becky _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Yvette Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 2:34 PM Subject: [ ] Probiotic Help Does anyone know the difference between certain probiotics? I am trying to understand what will address constipation mainly & yeast overgrowth. Is Threelac & VSL#3 comparable? I know that McCarthy uses Threelac but their website calls it a yeast fighter & not a probiotic. Many of you use VSL#3. Any thoughts? Thank you Yvette
Guest guest
Becky, I am interested in hearing more about your knowledge of VitK and oxalates. I am working with DAN! protocols in addition to VItE and Fish oil. It appears that my son in addition to heavy metals has a thyroid issue as well. Thanks, Colleen Mother of Charlie 2.5 years
Guest guest
Have you seen any docs about the yeast. My (admittedly) limited understanding of yeast treatments is that they vary greatly. To stop a systemic yeast treatment that was working after 6 weeks makes you wonder how much is left why it got there etc. Have you been able to hook up with a doc who will start with the basics..like Nystatin and go forward. At least that would get at gut yeast without overburdening the rest while you figure this out.
Guest guest
Yvette, I used VSL#3 when I was in Warrior Mode with Marks stomach issues. When we got his stomach healed, I went to the ThreeLac which is not as strong. VSL#3 is a top-notch product and good stuff! ThreeLac is very good as well but not nearly as potent. It is much milder and more gentle. VSL#3 is used successfully by friends of mine with Crohns disease, my sister with IBS and another friend who has colitis. (Boy, people just come out of the woodwork with their ailments when they see you distressed about your child, don't they? Very kind of them all...) Guest guest
radiantlifecatalog.com sells some really good probiotics. You have to be carefull about probiotics because most that are sold at room temperature are not good quality. kefir is a great idea. You can make it from pasturized milk if you dont have raw available. > > Hello! > > Can anyone suggest a good probiotic that they take? What should one look for when buying a probiotic? I have heard it is good to switch around to get different probiotics--any help/suggestions would be much appreciated! > > Thanks! > > Jill Swanson >
