Guest guest
I just want to be positively clear on how to give high dose omega oils to help alleviate my son's apraxia. Should I give Nordic Naturals ProEFA (same formula as Omega Complete) together with ProEPA in a 2 to 1 ratio to start? i.e., 2 capsules of ProEFA & 1 capsule of ProEPA (as a single serving) and then slowly increase to three servings of each a day? Or should I be using ProEFA in conjunction with the Omega 3 formula (instead of ProEPA)?? There's some confusion as another board posted this protocol, and someone pointed out that Omega 3 was the wrong formula to use... I am so desperate to get my son to talk that I want to make sure I'm doing this right. Thank you for your help!
Guest guest
Please feel free to post this to the group you got the misinformation from as this is the third time I'm posting this archive recently. Hope this helps! Re: .....More Fish Oil Hi ! In the archives we used to raise the dosage over months -but now people raise the dosage much sooner and don't wait until there is a plateau. In history the high DHA doesn't work well for just about anyone's child to see a dramatic surge -but as we know there are exceptions. Also if you want to see more of a surge with a high DHA you have to do very high dosages -which again is why not to use the cod liver oil due to the natural vitamin A found in fish oils made from the liver of the fish. CLO tends to be higher in DHA. While the Omega 369 is comparable in formula to the ProEFA- Ultimate Omega is not the right commercial formula that is equivalent to the ProEPA. Here's the formula of EPA and DHA in the ProEPA to give you an idea of how much higher it is in EPA and lower in DHA then the one you are using. Ultimate Omega per 2 capsules EPA 650 DHA 450 ProEPA per 2 capsules EPA 850 DHA 200 As you can see -the EPA is much higher in ProEPA. You'd be better off using ProEFA and coromega then what you are using as we typically don't want to raise the Omega 3 that much higher than a 5/1 ratio over the omega 6 -unless you use EPA. Also...more is not always better. If you are using the right formula and dosage and then throw cod liver oil on top of that for health reasons -you've changed the formula and you probably won't see much of a surge. For anyone not seeing changes on the right formula -are you also using CLO too? If you check the archives once the CLO is stopped you should see the surges. I've been told that EPA is a much more expensive oil than the DHA due to the processing it takes to make it. They may all stink like fish - but fish oils are for sure not the same! =====
