Year in Review NewsletterDecember 2008

Season's Greetings!

As we near the end of 2008, the staff here at the Flutie Foundation have

been taking some time to reflect on how fortunate we are to have such

wonderful support from all of our sponsors and donors. Even though the

economy is suffering through a rough time and two of our biggest events of

the year were hampered by rain, you still came out in large numbers in order

to support our Foundation's mission, and for that we are very grateful.

It's due to your incredible support that today we are announcing over

$350,000 in grants to organizations assisting individuals with autism and

their families. Please visit our website for a list of the 2008 grant

recipients. We also were able to grant over $150,000 in program support for

programs such as our Laurie Flutie Computer Initiative and the

AccesSportAmerica Summer Water Sports Program.

Below you will find our 2008 Year In Review Newsletter!

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Sports Illustrated at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Boston.

The next day, the event moved to Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, MA where,

for the first time in the 9-year history of the event, the tournament was

and celebrities who came out to support the Foundation.

June 22nd & 23rd. If you would like more information about this event,

please email Kerri Kennedy-Blume.

The 1st Annual Rock 'n Ride

To Benefit The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation and Pitching in for Kids

Even a rainy forecast on August 3rd couldn't keep close to 100 riders from

attending the 1st Annual Rock 'N Ride to benefit The Doug Flutie, Jr.

Foundation for Autism and Pitching in for Kids, which raised over $30,000!

Riders registered at Bruce Rossmeyer's Boston Harley son in Everett, MA

and were treated to complimentary food and water donated by Stop & Shop and

SmartWater.

A Harley son Fat Boy was also raffled off and won by Juergen Blake of

Middleton, MA! The Fat Boy was generously donated by Boston Harley of

Everett.

A very special thank you to the staff at Pitching in for Kids, who donated

their portion of the funds as a grant to the Flutie Foundation. Also, thank

you to Bruce Rossmeyer and the staff at Boston Harley son in Everett,

the Hard Rock Café, Dennis Moschella, Boston Harley Owners Group, all of our

Programs Funded by the Flutie Foundation in 2008

AccesSportAmerica Water Sports Program

The Flutie Foundation proudly partnered once again with AccesSportAmerica in

order to provide an exciting water sports program during the summer. Forty

five individuals with autism took part in the 2008 program, where they

learned skills like canoeing, windsurfing and sailing. This was the 5th

year that we have sponsored this program that has offered hundreds of

individuals with autism and their families the chance to take part in an

activity together. Please click here to see photos of the Flutie

Foundation's staff taking part in the program along with some very special

athletes!

Laurie Flutie Computer Initiative

The Flutie Foundation and Hewlett Packard partnered once again to bring

computer technology to families and classrooms for children with autism.

This year, HP donated 20 desktops and 6 laptops to the Foundation for us to

provide to families who could not otherwie afford them and to classrooms

that assist children on the autism spectrum. Since the program began, close

to 400 computers have been given to schools and families helping thousands

of people.
