Guest guest
I have a five year old son with PDD NOS and apraxia, he is finally making gains slow gains with his speech. What is the DTP shot supposed to do to speech? What are the chances nothing negative could happen? I am such a nervous wreck over all these shots, he is getting them spaced out, but he didnt get a flu shot and the more I read the more confused I am. Guest guest
I heard it is not good to give to people with neuro issues(apraxia) and the mmr is not good for that either Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device from U.S. Cellular Re: [ ] Re:DTP shot I have a five year old son with PDD NOS and apraxia, he is finally making gains slow gains with his speech. Guest guest
, I feel the same way! Mark is due to get shots next year in grade 9; I've spoken to Moms of 'healthy' kids who had severe problems with those shots. Knowing what he knows now, I don't think Mark even wants them but..... I feel very torn about it. Look at Dr. Stephanee Cave's website since she is the 'safe' vaccination guru and has a better schedule listed at her site apparently. I think she gives recommendations on how to approach this...... I wanted to Congradulate you on your sons progress! I was so happy to read that post and didn't get a chance to reply at the time. Do you recommend the B12 shots then? I have been studying energy pathways and Mark's old labs..... reading all about muscle tone. I tried Mark on creatine and it was not a go. In reading further, I realized that creatine won't work for tone if you're low B12 and of course, Mark is low MB12. We've never done the shots though but my DAN has recommended it. I'm a little squeamish about them and given that Mark is so old at 14, I don't think he would do them..... But, he is about to make that leap to 'man-muscles' through puberty; it's our last kick-at-the-can to get some 'real' muscle tone and I just don't want any of his pathways blocked to prevent this. What has been your experience here? Did you see improvements right away? Guest guest
Yes, the B12 shots have been a very good thing for us. It helped the speech a little bit which is great considering my son was not really saying too much. Now I can understand at least five words. I am so distressed over this shot thing. I am so scared my son will get sick if I don't get the shot and I worry his autism will get worse. No one wants to say one way or the other when you try to nail an MD down for an opinion. Our son's Dr has a severely autistic niece, and she still recommended we get a flu shot for our son, which we didnt. I still hope we get through flu season, he was sick once with the upper respiratory flu but is fine now. The needles on the B12 shot are really tiny, it helps that my dad is a retired Ophthalmologist so he knows how to inject it, I just can't do it, not yet anyways. Thanks for your e mail. Guest guest
, I tried to have Mark take creatine which helps with muscle tone and he couldn't tolerate it. So.... then I researched further and discovered that if you are having issues with methylation, this can affect transport of creatine to the muscle and thus.... ta da... you get hypotonia. In reviewing Mark's labs, I can see (after long study to understand the different indicators.... WOW.. this is SOOO complex!) that he has b12 in his body but that he is definately not methylating it properly. Without this, everything comes to a halt. My doctor has tossed out the idea of the MB12 shots to us in the past and I have 'avoided' them. We go back to Utah Feb 2 for our NACD evaluation in Ogden, get a new program done up and we will also see our Environmental doctor in Provo. This time.... I think I'll try the MB12 shots! I know that Mark is NOT going to take kindly to this and perhaps we can try the nasal spray? Not sure that it is as effective as the subcutaneous methods. If we can get the meythl groups working properly, then we can use creatine to build muscle tone. I have read stories of kids become a lot more coordinated with MB12 with time; it 'unsticks' the blockages in the biochemistry. I am really happy for you since you have not had a lot of good 'responder' items for you child. Methylation can be KEY for some kids and I just 'know' in my heart that you're going to see continued progress with this. So CHEERS on this wonderful finding for you! I will be thinking of you when I learn how to administer the MB12 shot in the doctors office. YIKES! As far as the dreaded vaccination 'shots' go.... I wouldn't touch the flu shot with a ten foot pole! Forget it! But the regular shots are problematic for us because Mark likes to go away to camp and such and to do this, requires vaccines. But after all of the research that I have done, he too, is afraid of vaccinations! I think that I'm going to take it one day at a time and discuss our options with our Environmental doctor in Utah when we go again this summer. Perhaps if we separate the shots and do them one at a time? I don't know..... I am not willing to jeoprodize all of our gains and our hard work because of vaccinations!
