Guest guest
I'm hoping that there is someone out there that knows someone in Canada that can help this family. The mother's best friend sought me out at work. They live in Toronto, Canada and are being told there is nothing but waiting lists, even just to get a diagnosis. They have a 4 year son exhibiting aggressive behaviors when frustrated or mad. He is even striking out at their baby. The mother is so afraid of him seriously hurting his younger brother and/or herself. She is also fighting her own urges to hurt her son. I read a recent letter she sent to her friend and it is frightening. She explains how her son does not seem to be able to read other's emotions, is echolalic and insists on routines. He, however, does not have a means to control his emotions. She is so distraught that she wants to take her baby and leave her son and husband. So many typical signs here, frustration in family, no money for services, services not available. Since they are not in the US, I don't know what more I can do to help them. I have sent her books and given numerous websites to look at, including some from Canada, along with suggestions of therapies to look into. I am truly hoping that there is someone who knows another person that is in or near her that can reach out and provide support and/or guidance. If you know of anyone, please contact me at feistyfode@... and I will get direct information on the family to you. Thank you so much. Just trying to reach out to as many as I can.
