Guest guest
Our son is 28 months and was diagnosed w/ moderate-severe apraxia two months ago. He was approved for Indiana First Steps speech therapy. He's been receiving therapy here at home once/week for 1 hour. It has been very effective, and he is showing progress. He has a long way to go, but has made great strides in these past couple months. These past couple sessions, the therapist felt he is getting too comfortable here at home. She suggested we do the next couple sessions at her facility inside the hospital, as a trial. We are anxious to try this out to see if it's more effective. She said after this trial run at the hospital, if we feel continuing at the facility would be more effective than the home, this could possibly create a problem with First Steps because First Steps prefers sessions be at the patient's home. What I'm hoping will happen is if he performs better at the therapist's facility vs. our home, we could present this information to First Steps & they would be okay with it. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this come up with their child having therapy sessions at a facility through the state program? Thanks so much for taking the time to read. Have a great day everyone!
