Guest guest
My daughter only had the " burnt butt " once, and that was years ago when I gave her the super nu thera (not the hypo allergenic one). Her butt was red on both sides, but it went away probably within a day since I discontinued using it. I think I tried it once more to definitely conclude that it was the vitamin causing it, and it happened again. So, if the burnt butt is from digesting or other exposure to an allergin, and if you know what it is, just keep the child away from it, or if it is something else causing this, maybe something gentle like desitin. Guest guest
Not sure how to best describe it but this is no ordinary diaper rash. We have had a lot of poop and very strange type the past few days but with no accompanying rash. I think my boy has the flu bug we all caught but his is in the gut. Yesterday I allowed gfcf storebought ginger cookies. Not sure if it is the ginger (normally a non issue), the rice (an issue for him) or some other ingredient but we got lehargy, a big poop, and a red ring on the but like burn marks. Almost maroon. Awful for him. That said he is otherwise pleant and no longer lethargic. Still, we have not had such a thing since off g, c, and s so I am unschooled in the best fixes. Any ideas? > > Do you mean from like a yeast rash??? Where it gets really red and sore? Jen > > > > **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & > Finance. Guest guest
Our grandson had the burnt butt problem. We tried many things until someone told me about a product at the grocery store called " butt cream " . It goes on easy and is painless. It heals reasonable fast too. Before we used it he would cry with the pain of the other products we used. Zinc seems like such a good product but it burns going on. Good luck with this! Guest guest
My son has always had a sensitive butt. What I found works best for him is good old petroleum jelly (vaseline). It does not hurt at all and heals quickly. It is really cheap too. My kids both have sensitive skin. I use it when they get a sore nose from wiping it with a tissue when they have a cold. I use it on their cheeks and chins when they get red from the cold and the snow gets them wet. Sometimes the skin on my son's arms and legs gets dry and red like it is chapped and I use it on that also. I hope you find something that works. Diaper rashes are no fun! Guest guest
Hi all.. Im a mother of seven kids... 5 girls and 2 boys... between the ages of 7 months and 22 years.. About the burnt butt... There are 3 things I would recommend.. 1. A & D ointment... 2. Zinc Oxide - not balmex or desitin... good old Zinc Oxide.. 3. Anti fungal cream for a diaper rash.... ( Athletes Foot creme, takes it away in a day.. this was recommended to me by my pharmacist 15 years ago and it has always worked..) Guest guest
Nice to hear from a veteran mom:) We have always used zinc oxide plain as you say and are proceeding that way now. With try the others if this fails. > > > My son has always had a sensitive butt. What I found works best for > > him is good old petroleum jelly (vaseline). Guest guest
A veteran mom indeed.. Zinc works well. What exactly does the rash look like..? If its little bright red dots scattered, the best thing to use is the Lotrimin (athletes foot creme).. You would never think to use it, but all it is, is an anti fungal cream.. Guest guest
I would think to use it because this kid has an older sibling with fungal stuff but this is not fungal...no dots. Plain red buttt which has left actually. The burn marks are on each cheek, where the poop came out. The are dark red lines. It was awful. Seems to be improving. What the heck was in that poop! > > A veteran mom indeed.. > Zinc works well. > What exactly does the rash look like..? > If its little bright red dots scattered, the best thing to use is the > Lotrimin (athletes foot creme).. > You would never think to use it, but all it is, is an anti fungal cream.. > >

Guest guest
I hope its not too late to jump in. We just went thru nasty diaper rash- at 3yrs old- diaper days are almost done! With child number 3 going through this one last time= they told us to use Triple Antibiotic, different healing power than Vaseline and Zinc on top of that. When that wasn't enough we got a Steroid for a few days, by itself on the skin. Hopefully you have solved your issues by now!
Guest guest
Almost solved. He is 3 also. Triple paste has never worked for us. Perhaps my kids skin knows how expensive it is! > > I hope its not too late to jump in. We just went thru nasty diaper > rash- at 3yrs old- diaper days are almost done! Guest guest
just a quick note on the below comment. If an anti fungal cream is working on the bottom, that means that it's a yeast infection. Usually it starts by having little red (and usually raised) bumps that then get agitated and become a larger overall rash that looks really " angry " and inflamed if it's let go long enough. becky In a message dated 3/16/2008 11:27:18 A.M. Guest guest
Actually-- I've had one of my kids who would get that yeasty rash WITHOUT having the red bumps first-- and it would go right to the red butt. So it's worth a try with the Lotrimin becky

Guest guest
I used to use Pinxav (pink salve) for my girls, but it never worked for my son. When he gets a diaper rash it immediately gets red and angry looking. Our dr has said it's a yeast (red angry looking diaper rash, no bumps) infection and prescribed antifungal cream applied twice daily. But I've also used Triple Paste. Yes it's expensive, but it does work for him. We're currently on our second tube of it since last year. I was going to try the Butt Paste this last time, but I wasn't sure how good it was - it's about half the price of the Triple paste.
