Guest guest
Of course, I believe chelation will help. Even though we did IV chelation, and I do not recommend this form of chelation, we still saw some huge gains after chelation. It was just that IV chelation caused my son to have scary asthma attacks afterward, and so I could never recommend this protocol. when we first started this journey, this site was one of the very few that existed at the time, and I learned more here than I have ever learned anywhere else. If I could go back, I would have gone with Andy's protocol for chelation. Low and slow is best, I think. We could not chelate at all for many years due to our son's neutrophil count. Before beginning any protocol, I think it best to be prudent and get your child's copper/zinc ration checked. Check for deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. Even though your child has been gf/cf for a year, get his opiate peptides re-tested. We did this one year after beginning gf/cf and his opiates had come down but were still high. Then we removed soy protein from his diet, and about a week after doing so, our son said his first sentence! Then when we re-tested months later, his opiate peptide level was normal. Keep reading Andy's book and then map our your plan. I am re-reading his book now, and we plan to use ALA only as after IV chelation, our son started having problems with sulfa drugs and even some sulfa-containing foods. I do believe that chelation is an important part of healing our children. Heavy metals will remain in the body and the brain and continue to do damage as long as they are in there. Considering that these metals heavily bind to the fatty tissues in the body (the kidney, liver, and brain), they only way to get them out is through chelation --unless your child's detoxification system suddenly rights itself and can do this, but I don't think a spontaneous cure is possible. Once you get enough of the metals out, then perhaps your child's system will heal and then be able to keep up with what is in the environment. For now, most of our children got so heavily overloaded with heavy metals that their systems reached a toxic tipping point, and the road back is a long one. Read Andy's book and stop using anything containing aluminum. do not use any coated cooking pans. We eat foods out of cans very rarely (usually only beans). Use no aluminum foil. You did not say if your son was taking any flax or fish oil. Many have said on this site that vitamin A drops have helped with focus and reduction in OCD. I'm not sure as we have not tried this yet, My son had the same issues, and then he lost the OCD and the tantrums. the tantrums are still gone but the OCD and stimming have come back. Perhaps this is a yeast issue. You have to have a good yeast protocol in place to chelate. keep reading and asking questions here, and then you can make the decision. Your son is five and just think, if you start the AC protocol soon, by the time he is my son's age (almost eleven) he may even lose the ASD diagnosis. You won't know unless you try.
