Guest guest
She can - there is no cut off time. They told us that if it didn't happen by 5 - it wouldn't happen. His fifth birthday - silent birthday - was heartbreaking. He spoke the words " moo " and " baa " (animal noises) at 5 and a half... Make sure she has other ways to communicate - sign language, pictures and that the school uses them ALL OF THE TIME so that she learns how to do use it by watching them. That was the start for my son at 4 was learning the power of language with pix and sign; wanting to have fun with the teachers and therapists and tell them fun things and please them. It eases the frustration and takes the pressure off of " getting it right " when those first words come out. Another friend has a chinese BOY with similar issues as your daughter - much language delays - double vaccinated - spoke consistently at 5 after getting the right therapies. You could never tell he had a delay today at age 9 or so. Just work to give her a way to communicate and she will be happy and the rest, whatever it will be, will fall into place. > > OK, I am back. > I have a great, awesome, non verbal 4.5 year old with a history of > SEVERE ear issues, cleft palate, dental situations, hearing > impairment, social neglect (Chinese orphanages....) and more. > She WANTS to speak.... > PreK sped ed program, not the fearful kgarten transition.
