Hey Everyone

We had an updated IEP meeting last week for DS 3 (spd/ssd/speech

delay) and it went very well. He technically didn't qualify for OT

b/c he scored well on everything, but his sensory issues are clearly

affecting his ability to sit still and have speech therapy.

His SPT and I discussed apraxia and I told her everything I have

learned from the wonderful " Late Talker " book. We also discussed

his sensory diet and things I said would help him. They were blown

away by all my knowledge and I just have to thank you guys b/c I am

learning so much!!

Anyway - I have a couple of questions, DS's speech as increased a

lot with increased omegas, but I am hearing more squealing when he

talks, as well as he talks and yells VERY loud.

We are constantly trying to tell him to use his inside voice but he

continues to yell, scream squeal 50-75% of the time. He does this

when happy, sad, mad, excited, basically any time of the day it can

come up.

At night before bed he is most quiet answering nicely to questions I

ask while we are reading. But I would say this is the only time of

day that he always talks normally. He is answering my questions

more often which is awesome, considering that was NON existent a

couple of months ago. But a simple no can

be " nooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaooooo " squeal - where I am like what

the heck??

Have any of you with apraxia kids had experience with this?

Also - we have had all the hearing tests " normal range " everytime.

Thanks so much, Jill
