Guest guest
Try this: " How much neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to dispense an order for 60g of flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin? 0.5 gm NP X gram NP --------------------------- = ------------------ 100 grams NP+ FC 60 gm NP + FC 0.5 x 60 ---------- = X gm NP 100 0.3 grams or 300 mg of neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to make a flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin. > > how much neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to dispense an order for 60g of flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin? > > > > >
Guest guest
thanks....there were other choices besides the answer you gave me... 120mg 240mg 300mg 600mg ________________________________ From: Jeanetta Mastron <rxjm2002@...> Sent: Wed, February 17, 2010 5:42:20 PM Subject: Re: can you help Dear crystal, Your math question: How much neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to dispense an order for 60g of flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin? 0.5 gm NP ------------ --- X gram NP ------------ ------- = ------------ -------- 100 grams NP+ FC ---------60 gm NP + FC 0.5 x 60 ---------- = X gm NP 100 0.3 grams of neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to make a flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin. Please note, allow me to go one step further: Since the question did not specify the `units' of the amount of neomycin the possible answers to a PTCB question could easily trick you and could look like this: a. 0.3 mg b. 300 mg c. 0.3 mcg d. 300 gm Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Founder/Owner > > how much neomycin powder must be added to flucinolone cream to dispense an order for 60g of flucinolone cream with 0.5% neomycin? > > > > >
Guest guest
Crystal, If you notice I explained that the possible answers could be in a different 'unit' than you expect as they could be tricky. I DID give you 0.3 grams and ALSO the answer as b. 300mg in MY example. In your unlettered possibilities, the answer would be the third in the list, #3 or c. 300 mg. I point this out because too often we want the answer to be what we are solving or looking for.
