Guest guest
Hi all, I just wanted to update you all on what is going on with Adam and Josh. Adam was diagnosed at age two with apraxia, and Josh diagnosed around the same age 3 years later with pdd- high functioning autism. Josh now is nearly 9 and reading words and does adding with 1 and 2 digits. He is in 2nd grade, in a autism class at the elementary school. Adam at 8 wasn't doing any reading yet. Adam in in 7th grade with math and reading being hard for him to do, on a 4th grade level. He hasn't quite gotten the 6's-9's times tables down pat yet, re memorizing. As far as the reading it is hard for him phonetically to break new words down and to figure them out. He will be going to a different academic program/school in the fall so it will be a challenge with other kids who also have academic issues. It will be interesting to see what will happens. He also has a 5 week academic course over the summer for 2 hours a day. I work with him every day on his times tables and reading. He just finished Hans Brinker and the Silver skates. It is a great old story with 21 chapters.
