Guest guest
I know there are a lot of NY'ers here so I thought I'd pass this along. My 3yr old son has been receiving only Speech services since the school year started. The SD SLP and me,noticed he progressed very fast. All he needed was a little help. I asked her if we'd be able to decrease to 1x a week since it seemed it was all he needed. This would only be till he could be retested and de-classfied. She let me know that she spoke to the SD Psychologist who told her that only children receiving OT and PT can be reduced to 1x per week if they have been receiving 2x. Kids in CPSE who are receiving Speech must stay at 2x per week or be declassified. He was retested and he will be de-classified next week- this is fine with me- I'm tired of bringing him there 2x a week and he has surely learned what he needs to be able to progress on his own from now on. I just thought it was interesting that the Psychologist said its in the NYS Regs that only kids with OT/PT can reduce the number of sessions..speech kids have to get 2x week.
