Guest guest
OMG did anyone see Governor Palin's youngest daughter Piper who was holding Trig and fixing his hair by licking her hand and smoothing his hair to the side while her mom was speaking? Every time they filmed Piper she was intent on her little brother.. rubbing his face, his head...So sweet! Here's what Governor Palin said about special needs: " In our family, it's two boys and three girls in between - my strong and kind-hearted daughters Bristol, Willow, and Piper. And in April, my husband Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical. That's how it is with us. Our family has the same ups and downs as any other ... the same challenges and the same joys. Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge. And children with special needs inspire a special love. To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House. " http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Conventions/story?id=5720910 & page=1 I know I know it's just politics and promises -but Piper and Trig- priceless. (and it is her special needs child in the SPOTLIGHT) Oh and about the hockey mom statement -I pulled that from a quote during the speech from Palin - " the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick " ) =====
Guest guest
I have some doubts about her being my special needs advocate since her special needs child is only 4 months old. Her child isn't in speech therapy yet so she doesn't have the experience to know that speech therapy often is not covered under insurance. What is her plan? Does she have one? I haven't heard one yet. It seemed exploitative to me. Apparently McCain adopted a child from Bangladesh with a cleft palate but his plan would weaken state regulations: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/04/28/mccain-hears-plea-on-health- insurance/ I did happen to see the sibling spit moment and I smiled! I hope that gets a lot of coverage! > > OMG did anyone see Governor Palin's youngest daughter Piper who > was holding Trig and fixing his hair by licking her hand and > smoothing his hair to the side while her mom was speaking? Guest guest
The thing is that reports are coming out today on CNN and elsewhere that Palin, as governor of Alaska, cut special needs funding by 62 percent!!! She has also been known to cut funding to help pregnant teens. One of her responsibilities as governor is overseeing the Department of Education and Early Development Special Schools in Alaska. These funds provide supplementary educational services to students with severe disabling conditions and the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy. The resident school where the child would normally be placed does not have the resources to provide an adequate educational program. Without the supplementary services the child's needs would not be met by the local school district in most cases. The Annual budget for 2007, which preceded Gov. Palin was $8,265,300. The Annual budget for 2008, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000. The Annual budget for 2009, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000. This is a cut in special needs services to children in Alaska of 5,109,300 , or 62%. I hope, if elected she doesn't " advocate " like this for special needs children nationwide. > > OMG did anyone see Governor Palin's youngest daughter Piper who > was holding Trig and fixing his hair by licking her hand and > smoothing his hair to the side while her mom was speaking?
