I hope that this message comes through to you-- I've always thought that there was a TON of information given from this board geared for those Autistic and Apraxic children here. I'm sorry you feel unwelcome :-( becky **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
I don't think anyone's child knows about the disagreements people have over the computer. My son has PDD NOS and Apraxia, another member left because she too felt unwelcome. The problem is a lot of times Apraxia can be paired with other issues or the other way around. To say to go elsewhere is not up to you, if you don't care for what is being posted erase it! Sick of it and done with it, somehow somebody has to stop this negativity or everyone will leave. **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
missy, I'm just reading these posts today, so have to catch up from the weekend. But no one should make anyone feel unwelcomed. Hang in there. Carolyn **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
, I am probably also considered an " old timer. " Clearly, has helped countless kids by starting this list and discussing how essential fatty acids help children with apraxia and neurologically based speech delays and disorders, including my own. We are should be grateful. But I think your post really came off sounding like look this is what our list is about, and maybe you don't belong here. I know you didn't mean that. But that is clearly how the person you posted about took it and I'm not surprised. Autistic, autistic-like, and children with neurological issues, all come under the description you posted for this list. Autistic children and children as my own child who do have apraxia but know the cause because we had MRI's done, come under neurologically based speech and language disorders. I know that none of us mean to be disrespectful to others but I do understand why some newer posters are getting upset. They aren't the ones who first brought up the " majority, " and they didn't also refer to children as having mental retardation to distinguish them from " just " having apraxia. Now I know that these comments weren't intentionally meant to offend anyone, but clearly and understandably they did. I personally was offended by that term which is being more and more replaced with cognitive impairments and developmentally disabled. So, I hope that everyone can try to look at their posts and think gee, how are they likely to be interpreted..will they offend someone, be interpreted to rudely discount some other person's opinion, etc. Let's get back to welcoming all posts and let posters, whether they are new or " old timers " like me, decide what therapy/intervention they choose to try for their child without discounting their comments. Now, I have not see you do that, so please don't take my post as suggesting that. I just don't want people to feel that they are not welcomed and can understand why the poster felt that way. Guest guest
I will never leave. This board has helped us a lot eventhough I do not respond to many of the posts. I love this board since it has helped us so much and many of the people here have really been supported of Josh and I so thanks to all of you. I always try to read all the posts even if they do not pertain to me because maybe I WILL learn something and I have even talked to over the phone a couple times. I felt like I was talking to a movie star. I have been reading the posts for 4 years now. **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living.
