Guest guest
I'm excited to share a new game I thought of that seems to work great with my son (30mths) that helps me get sounds out of him while teaching him the alphabet and colors too. I purchased bean-bag set (made by learning resource center) from a local teacher's supply store that has the letters of the alphabet on one side and blank on the other side. The bags come in an equal variety of colors -- red, yellow, blue, green, purple, brown and black. I hold up a bag for my son, say the letter and then the phonetic sound. He attempts to mimic and then tosses the bean-bag into a basket. He enjoys it and I get to hear more clearly what his attempts are and can record them for later reference. I'm so excited to have found a game/tool that is helping us both out and wanted to share in case someone else finds it helpful too. K Son : 2yrs 6/12 Several Evals done: Pediatrician, Regional Center (OT and Case Worker), Neurologist & Audiologist. All evaluations are best described as work in progress. Only eval I'd consider proficient is the Neurologist. Expressive speech delay (and possible latent neurological disorder; Not Autistic/Aspergers) Group speech therapy with SLP and OT Home Therapy: Communicating Partners (parent led). SLP evaluation 2/09. Severe speech delay 12mths receptively (disagree -- more like 18-24 mths) and 6mths expressive (disagree -- more like 10-12 mths). Possible verbal apraxia (agree) & possible sensory integration issues (disagree) Uses 40 signs (asl), about six word approximations but no verbal words yet.
