It also reveals where you are located and any work info you have not chosen to mask from view via your profile settings. Nobody can view or access your entire profile and photos unless you grant them permission by adding them as a friend of yours. - You can click on VIEW FRIENDS next to any of the members of the group and a list of THEIR friends with photos et al will come up, even with an option that you can send a request to add them as your friend, too. - Email addresses are not displayed though you can send private messages within Facebook to the user selected, but doing so automatically opens that person up to to view your list of friends, as well as your Basic, Work and Education info for one month. - If you delete the copy of your private message sent with replies received, Facebook actually deletes the whole " thread " , you cannot selectively delete individual parts of private messages (only the entire thread). - There appears to be in the group feature a public forum discussion that works like other non-group discussion groups though. - Also, if you are signing up for it for the first time - be aware (or also beware) that it will ask you if you want to invite your friends and will also slyly attempt to get you to click yes to allow it to read your email address book and any messenger program address books (like Skype and Messenger) and send messages to everyone there as an invite to Facebook from you (you can choose NO and it will leave those lists alone). Guest guest
Well-- actually, I know several people who use a different name, they just put in a fake name rather than their real one it's worked fine for them bek In a message dated 1/14/2009 7:34:27 A.M. Guest guest
Hi Momresearch, Yes you pointed out some good issues, however, is correct, you can totally control your privacy settings and have full control on who you want to see you and WHAT you want to be seen. You do not have to post your email address, your location, what you do or anything else that is on the information page. Many people leave it completely blank by choice and others choose, like me, to fill in only waht I want to fill in. You can ignore friends requests, block people, or just join groups without going the friends/reconnection route. That is what I like about facebook, I am completely in charge of my privacy preferences and what I want to be public. However, people should only do the things they are comfortable with and if things like facebook is not in one's comfort zone, no one is obligated to do it.
