Guest guest
I am a recent member and have been seeing a lot of posting regarding Omega 3-6-9 (ProEPA). What brand does everyone use? My son is 33 months old and has severe apraxia. Receptive language and congition are age appropriate or even higher. He has 3 hours of 1:1 Speech therapy per week in addition to 20 hours of ABA, 1.5 hours of PT and 1.0 hour of OT. He can reproduce the " aaa " , " mmm " , and " www " sounds and that is about the extent of his expressive language. He is a natural signer and does inventive signing, gestures, points, nods yes and no and we used PECS for about a year. Thanks, Hetal in California
Guest guest
Hi Hetal and welcome! Brand names do not matter -all that matter are formula, dosage and quality of the oil. There are 3 brands that historically most find the greatest success with -Efalex (used to be from Efamol but now from Nutricia) Eye Q from Equazen and ProEFA from Nordic Naturals/NN links to these are other companies here http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/efabasics.html From NN there are 2 different line -professional which you can purchase online or from healthcare professionals -not found in stores -or the commercial line which you can purchase in stores (such as Whole Foods) ProEFA (professional line) = Omega 369 (commercial line) ProEPA (professional line) = EPA (commercial line) The formula that works for most is to start with 1 or 2 of the ProEFA - then instead of going to 3 capsules of ProEFA -once up to 2 capsules of ProEFA -add one capsule of ProEPA. Some go up to three times a day of that. Here's more on EFAs from CHERAB http://www.cherab.org/information/indexinformation.html#diet Also did you read anything about the vitamin E yet? Here are links to the new member archive which covers that as well. /message/75826 and a dosage archive put together by /message/76492 =====
