Guest guest
It's quite potent. Just one capsule (on a constipated day) made my son go 6 times the next day. The surprising thing was that 4 out of 6 times were solid formed poop and only the last two were a little loose. It appears that their promise of removing back up holds some truth. We don't use it regularly as they recommend(only on bad days) because we fear he might come to depend on it. -Kajuk --- svallo44024 <frankvallo@...> wrote: > Has anyone used the product OxyPowder for > constipation problems? Guest guest
This must be the same kind of oxygen thing that goes with the Threelac. Looking further into all of this....Thanks. Guest guest
That would explain why both my husband and my son had felt very ill the evening that they took their first oxypowder, when neither has ever had that reaction to plain mag oxide or any other magnesiums. Probably a die-off reaction. They don't react that way to it now, just that first night (and it wasn't administered on the same night so it wasn't that both of them were just coincidentally 'sick'. It was about a month apart for each, in the summertime). Guest guest
Personally, I don't have any experience with Oxypowder. However, lots of people on the Miralax group have used this product and rave about it. If you do a search in that group for it, you'll find lots of info. Guest guest
Subject: Re: oxypowder I used this for both my daughters with autism as a suggestion from this group because both my daughters were suffering constipation all the time. It made my oldest daughter have severe stomach cramping, but worked very well for my youngest daughter. I also found out giving about 1,000 mg of vitamin C divided in 4 doses and Natural Calm available at many health food stores daily worked very well if I give to them every day. So it works great for some and not others, but I definitely think it is better than Miralax my youngest was on for a year. Kim Elliott > > I am thinking of trying oxypowder with my child who is DD. Guest guest
My reg ped recommended miralax, too. I'm very glad I didn't go that route. The mineral oil definitely helps my son " go " , but h is speech seems to definitely regress when on it. I only gave it a try for a couple of days.....so we'll see if that's the culprit. I ordered oxypowder from the internet. I've asked my chiropractor and naturopath about it. They read the label and said it was fine. Does anyone else know if it's ok or not? I've tried the POM juice, but my son had to drink at a minimum of 1 1/2 bottles of it, which seemed like a lot to me. I also gave him magnesium on top of the POM. This also did not always guarantee a bm for that day, either. I will try the nectar, though. So, ----- is the above amount of POM juice a little much for my two year old?? Guest guest
For what it is worth, I used Pom juice this summer for myself. Not an instantaneous thing but it worked. I drank a lot also. I think less is needed over time if the issue is resolving. We do put pumpkin seeds in everything but I keep forgetting about pom juice and wonder if more variety in the fruit dept will be our fix. Anxious to try figs. > > > My reg ped recommended miralax, too. Guest guest
we never used that much Pom as it says here in this archive " Today all we use to prevent constipation is the Pom Wonderful juice every day -just a small amount too. http://www.pomwonderful.com/ Last Christmas we flew to NY and didn't give him any Pom juice while we were there and he got constipated. That was the only time we needed to use the Cherry Milk of Magnesia in the recent past " http://www.bayercare.com/htm/philmom.htm One small bottle of Pom lasted a few days to give you an idea. But we didn't start with Pom -we started with the list of dietary changes that were in the prescription from Dr. which was a list of things to add to or reduce from Tanner's diet. Dr. told me he sees many children with various conditions that are prone to constipation and what he was sharing worked for many others. There was also a behavioral aspect he shared with me with a reward system. I don't know if it's in the archive on the following link but I took Tanner with me to buy an extra fancy kids calendar that came with tons of stickers- fun! Any time he made a poop he got to put a sticker on his calendar for that week -depending on how many stickers he had that week depended on what " prize " he would get from small to big. Most of the prizes were things we would have done anyway -like take him to the movies -but he was excited about it! As far as kids refusing to drink the nectars -I tried each of the nectars and like other's kids Tanner refused to drink them too. I have in the archive link below that we went to a restaurant and I spoke to the waitress and had her make an extra fancy kids drink with an umbrella (they decorated it like it was a pina colada or something) and of course they didn't have nectar or anything -but had them use various fruit juices so it was sweet and he loved it. So when we got home I told my boys that I was going to try to make the " same thing " but I secretly replaced the juices with nectars in various amounts. Most of my attempts were rejected of course -until I hit pear nectar from a company named Looza or something. If I mixed the pear nectar with some of the others -but mainly pear nectar -Tanner would drink it. (Dakota it didn't matter) At the beginning when I was doing the nectars - I didn't use Pom -I didn't even know about it then. Over time we found the papaya fruit gels -and we tried various amounts of nectars -and found Tanner started going to the bathroom on a regular basis. The Pom juice we started a bit after and that took the place of the nectar, and the papaya fruit gels too -but I never needed to give Tanner a large amount of Pom for it to work. Honestly I to this day don't believe he " feels " the need to go -and I just have to remind him to " try " at least every other day...and without fail when I do -he goes which even though that's good it bothers me. I know Tanner still has some sensory issues with feeling things -like his broken finger -or shots. I mean he feels pain a bit -but not like any of us! He didn't know he had to go to the bathroom until I told him?! At 11 years old we still buy Pom but Tanner doesn't drink it every day anymore -and he doesn't drink nectars anymore nor eat the papaya gels -and he's fairly regular today outside of the fact that it does appear I have to remind him. Did you see the entire archive on it? Here it is below and I do go into various stages of what we did: /message/76648 Believe me when I was phone in hand calling and hanging up 911 not knowing what to do while Tanner was screaming and in pain on the toilet back then -when all the tricks I knew didn't work -I was 'ready' to start any medication prescribed to him when I took him to Dr. . That's why I love this doctor so much. Because he took the time with me -answered all my questions -talked to me about hypotonia and motor planning and how fish oils can be affected by fiber and a zillion other topics -and he got my son " cured " of his constipation without medication. For that -to me he is someone I will always highly recommend. And also because I know he is highly recommended by others which is how I found him to begin with! =====

Guest guest
Are you giving it with lots of water with lemon squeezed into it? One capsule with lots of water with lemon always worked for my son. I wouldn't split the dose if you do increase it. Joanne > > For those using oxypowder how many capsules do you give? Also, is it more effective to divide up the dose or give it at one time. We gave 1 capsule at night and saw no results! >
