Brushing Guidelines

1.Brush with firm quick movements, making sure the bristles are

bent.

2.Brush the arms (both sides of the arm, i.e. palm side and

fingernail side), the back (doing " w's " ), down the outside of the

leg, calf and shin (under the knee) and foot all 5 times. The order:

right or left arm (fingernail side first), then the back, then the

other arm, then down the side of the first leg once, then everything

under the knee, then the foot, the repeat on the other leg. Always

keep a hand on the child while moving the brush to the next brushing

area to keep body contact at all times.

3.Never brush the stomach, inner thigh, face, neck or head.

4.Follow brushing with joint compressions to the shoulder joints,

elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles and toes. Try to finish

all joints on one arm before going to the other arm and the same for

legs.

5.Never pull apart at a joint!

6.The input will last approx. 2 hours. Repeat every 2 hours.

7.Call your therapist if you have any questions.
