My dd who is going to be 9 y.o. in March & is in 2nd Grade in public

school(had to hold her back a year due to previous school not willing

to provide appropriate environment) has been classified as

Communication Impaired.

The district did pay for a Neurologist to evaluate her & her DX is

PDD-NOS with ADD. She also has severe reflux, severe onstipation &

Mitochondrial Dysfunction. She is very high functioning & many are

not able to tell that she is Autistic unless you spend some time with

her or are trained in Special Needs children. She is also a 23 weeker.

My dd does articulate words clearly but as far as the complexities of

her speech it is not there meaning that when she engages you in

conversation she speaks more at the level of a 4-5 year old. At

almost 9 years of age she should be speaking like an adult.

For instance she says things like " Mom is the sun sleeping? " when it

is dark outside.

Her hearing has been tested, she has been to a DAN dr, Neurologist,

Developmental Ped, Neurodevelopmental Ped, GI, SPeech THerapy & OT &

is taking supplements including Pro EFA, Gamma E, A, B6, CoQ10,

Selenium, D3, Cal Mag, Zinc, probiotic, & Megafolinic.

My questions are:

1. Is there anything I can do to get her to be able to speak more age

appropriately?

2. Is the DX accurate or do you see something else in your opinion?

3. Is there anyone else that can evaluate her so that she can get

appropriate therapies?

Thank you all that have read my long post & who offer any suggestions

& help.

Yvette A.
