Guest guest
Sorry to be a pain and ask again, but if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! I asked this question in December and haven't seen a response, and I can't find anything in the search (and trust me, I've read hundreds now) about how to restart. I know a lot of moms have done it, so if anyone can answer, that would be great!! > > I took my son off of fish oils before he started school in January. Guest guest
, I don't know about others on the board, but for me, when I had to stop and restart with my child, I started from the beginning with 1 capsule and built my way back to where she was before, not as slowly the first time around. I just wanted to be sure that I put it back in her system one at a time. Lori > > > > I took my son off of fish oils before he started school in January. Guest guest
Hi : Sorry you haven't gotten a response...I meant to answer you yesterday. Your son previously being on 6 capsules and off over a month(?), I wouldn't start at 6 capsules. There are no real " rules " how you go about doing this. It really depends on your child and how he reacts to raising fish oil doses. My son always had extra sensory stuff going on for about a week after I added more fish oil. Depending on your child is where you would want to start. You could start at 1 capsule, 2 capsules, etc. until you got back to 6 capsules. I wouldn't wait for plateaus, but give him the necessary time to get use to the oils again. My son was on 2 capsules when he was evaluated for the school district. I took him off like you so he would score low on the speech evaluation. I started him back with the 2 capsules at once after he regressed and was fine with that--he was probably only off for a week though. good luck- Tina mom to Landon 5yo > > > > I took my son off of fish oils before he started school in January. Guest guest
Our son was only off oils for a week, and we ramped back up rather quickly. I think we started with 1/2 the dose he was on (2 EFA/1EPA), then within a week we were back up to 4 EFA and 2 EPA. Since you were off longer, the body might need to ramp up slower, maybe 2 EFAs and see how he does, then add the EPA if he doesn't have any problems. I saw another surge after stopping and starting again, maybe because I started so fast!
