Take advantage of Federal Education Stimulus Spending for students who need AAC

and learning supports

On February 17th, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was passed

and signed into law. This includes an additional $11.2 billion for The

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B. IDEA Part B funds

are used for special education. These additional funds are intended to support

school districts during these difficult economic times to ensure they do not

reduce special education funding.

Your school district will receive a portion of this money. Go to the Committee

on Education & Labor to view the amount of money your district will be

receiving.

The first half of these funds will be available immediately. The second half

will be distributed in July 2010. They must be used within a specified time

frame.

Don't miss out on an opportunity to ensure that all children with communication

and learning disabilities are provided with the tools they need in order to be

successful in the classroom. If you are an AAC evaluator in the school setting,

use this as an opportunity to build your evaluation equipment library.

DynaVox / Mayer- offers a wide range of products to meet the

communication and learning needs of your diverse student population. We want to

make sure that you have the tools you need to support your students with complex

communication needs.

To schedule an appointment to discuss options, contact your local DynaVox sales

consultant. Visit us online and enter your zip code to identify your local

consultant.

Me too.....I've deleted all the emails today and there have been one too

many. These conversations have little to do with her being a working woman

raising a special needs child. She hasn't done so yet. He's barely 4

months! It's about everyone here getting there 2 cents in with their

partisan opinions. I deal enough with that here in my job!

This is the one place where I look to obtain information on other families

dealing with the same issues as me a child who initially diagnosed with

severe oral/verbal apraxia. And through the help of this site I was able to

provide him witht the therapies via. Speech, OT, Vitamins, Pro-EFA &

Pro-EPa & as of late Listening Therapy is now talking up a storm and

communicating quite nicely.

I don't give a rat's about Palin being a woman, mother & the nominee for

VP! That is not going to assist us in anyway with our children.

Could we take the political discussion to another venue and get back to

being a support group and information source for our

children/grandchild ren with Apraxia? I am so tired of looking at a

daily digest with only one or two messages on topic.

Agree to disagree and get on with the important function for which this

group was formed.

Thanks!
