I believe it is worth the time to read ALL of the exchange of information in these posts, whether it be the " main post " or people asking questions and receiving quite articulate, sincere and accurate explanations from the parents pre-researched as you want to do and whose children ARE actively using the NACD (or INPP or IAHP) neurodevelopmental rehab therapies. There is no substite for hearing direct, first-hand experience about any and all treatments which we consider for our children...good and/or bad. There have been three moms of late who have made the time to share their experiences, including ideas for similar exercises for anyone to do at home, and respond to everyone's questions about more more details and results obtained doing the therapies - they are Janice , Bigcheech and Liz (aka ilizzy) - Liz has her first appt with NACD right after Easter but has researched them quite a bit...the other two are moms actively involved in doing the NACD programs, as I also have been for 3+ years now (though we don't do the therapies via NACD organization) and several other less-high-volume message writer moms who ARE doing NACD. Here are a few of my messages regarding Dyspraxia and Neurodevelopmental evaluations and treatments...which my two sons have been doing for 3+ years (just not via NACD which is a U.S. based non-profit organization)...the therapies themselves are generically called " neurological organization " . Many of them also utilize an awake EEG - similar to neurofeedback to monitor how the brain works doing certain activities while the person is awake. They explain in simple terms what each of the components and therapies are - very informative. http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WTS_Dyspraxia.htm A quick excerpt from their home page: " An underlying cause of dyspraxia is often an unpractised and immature vestibular system <http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Balance.htm> (the balance mechanism located in the inner ear). It mediates other systems in the body including proprioception <http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Proprioception.htm> (our ability to know where our body is in space) and binocularity <http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Vision.htm> (our eyes working together as a team). Imbalances in these or other sensory systems <http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_The_Senses.htm>, or the retention of reflexes <http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Reflexes.htm> (automatic reactions), may all be implicated in dyspraxia.
