Guest guest
To Everyone- I went to the Health Department and spoke with the SLP. She travels the county to give speech therapy to kids in hopes of mainstreaming them into K. She said she can't diagnose apraxia. I spoke with the physicians at the city's clinic and they don't diagnose apraxia- it's for a neuro to do. I believe there are a number of kids with undiagnosed apraxia here. I just happen to live in a " dry " region of the U.S. where apraxia isn't really recognized yet (Okla.). It seems to me from this site that NJ, FL, CA, GA and OH are states I see up here again and again. I don't believe apraxia is found only in certain areas, just diagnosed in certain areas. Has anyone recognized this? Sure seems to me that certain parts of the country are more up to date than others! Joy
