Guest guest
Oh it is growing rapidly just like Autism, Diabetes, Cancer and all that is due to the increased vaccine schedule, mercury amalgams, pesticides, irrational use of antibiotics, genetically modified foods, water and air pollution, Teflon ware, microwaves, cell phones...oh and lack of proper healthy diets that we all have!!! " Technology " is biting us in the butt!!! Love, Gabby. :0) http://stemcellforautism.blogspot.com/ " I know of nobody who is purely Autistic or purely neurotypical. Guest guest
My now 5 1/2 yo son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 with Apraxia and Dysarthria and Hypotonia (low tone) in his tongue (and arms and legs). This year he has mastered the " K " , " G " , " Y " sounds!! We are working on the " F " and " S " sounds now. He can move his tongue from side to side! You can now see the muscles in his tongue whereas before it was like it was always at rest and floppy. When my son was 2 1/2 all he could say was " mama " , " dada " , " nana " and after 6 mos of ST he could say " No " . It seems like he's learning sounds faster the older he gets. I don't know about school but we're homeschoolers and my youngest can read! He learned the same way his siblings did. We simply read a lot in my family. (I've never done phonics or any other teach your child to read type stuff. My children have learned to read on their own from 4-6 1/2 years old.) Daily speech therapy is essential imo. We can only go to private speech therapy twice a week for an hour each time (crummy HMO). Every day I work with my son on speech therapy. His siblings do too! (They can understand him sometimes when I cannot.) Best wishes! It's a long road ahead of you but you can make it! Sincerely, Debra, homeschooling mom of 4 ages 12, 10, 9, and 5 1/2 > > My 2 1/2 yr old son was just diagnosed with severe apraxia. I don't much at all about it. How does the future look for these guys?????? His speech therapist tells me that he will have speech in elementary school but that's all I know. How will school be? Will he talk by then? How will these guys do in careers? Will they be severely limited? I am working iwth him several times a day with listening therapy, brushing, 1:1 direct sound therapy from him twice a day, using a sensory diet, and reading dr. seuss books to him.. He is very social but isn't talking. Any input is great!!!! >
