I just wish they would also release adult stem cell research... this is what

this article is about... embryonic is too unstable &  dangerous ...and most

parents have their children's cord blood stored and a little lipo can get the

fat to get the stem cells needed without having to wait so long for their

research to really work without dangers to the patients... last month a boy

developed tumor from embryonic stem cells and dying!!! And placentas from all

children born every day are plenty enough to work with in case of donors!!!

I do not know very much at all about stem cell research but I do know that

in some donor cases the hospital use to ask that the donor and recipient be

retested in 6 months for hiv. There is also controversy about medical history in

the case of adoption and reproductive medicine. There have been a lot of

legal issues around stem cells. I would do just about anything to get rid of the

diabetes but it has to be safe. I have known several recipients of organ

donors and I am scared to death. I also only know half of the medical history

when it comes to our family medical history. I really need to look into stem

cell research. I now have an incentive to do that. Charlotte- insulin is not a

cure and the hope is that a vaccine will be developed through the advancement

of stem cell research to prevent diabetes type 1 before a child develops it

I forgot to tell you that we looked into saving cord blood before we had the

kids but found the costs were so astronomical that we just could not afford

to do it. I think it was a couple thousand dollars and they included a couple

years storage in a chyro lab and after that you had to pay additional fees.

Our ob- gyn said that it would only help with leukemia. I do not know if I got

the right info from him or not. Charlotte
