What is a white diet? Is it a problem?

As my son is getting older (2 1/2), he's getting pickier about what he

wants to eat. He LOVES cereal, he'd eat it all day if I let him. He'd

also drink milk all day and be happy. He used to eat bologna, but the

past few times I fed it to him, he won't eat it. (To the point that he

barely ate breakfast, and held off until dinner to refuse it as lunch).

If I feed him a hot dog, he'll just as likely to eat the bread first as

he is to eat everything. If I serve pasta for dinner, he'll eat only

the pasta and leave everything else. (I can occasionally serve ham and

when he finishes, then give him pasta). With a sandwich, he'll dump the

meat and eat the bread. He eats chicken only as nuggets/ tenders,

not " real " chicken (breast, leg, etc). He loves pizza. He eats some

fruits, but refuses veggies (he used to eat them too). He eats steak

sometimes, but I don't make it often.

I was talking to a behaviorist who told me he's leaning towards

a " white diet " . I know that probably refers more to carbs than color. I

am seeing my pediatrician for a physical next week, and planned on

asking how to get more protein into his diet, since he only wants it

from milk. She (therapist) told me that I should mention it to my

neurologist, speech therapist, and the OT next week for a sensory eval.

Right now, I'm having a hard time finding info about how a white diet

relates to sensory kids. I know this board is more for apraxia, but I'm

sure my child isn't the only apraxic child with sensory issues out

there. I'd like to have some info before his evaluation.

Thanks for the help. I don't post here much, but it helps so much to

read everyone else's.
