I know this wasn't directed at me but I thought I'd throw out our

experience. Our son had his ears check and he actually hears better than

average. He inherited this trait from hubby, who also hears much better than

average. Hubby explains that he talks loud because he feels like he's

whispering because all the background noises are so loud to him.
