Guest guest
there are many opportunities for volunteerism in nj - at this point, i work with the VMC - volunteers of morris county - i don't know if you have all of your programs set for convention or GCI , but this would be a good one, as volunteer work is now considered experience for job applications - also, have been doing some term papers with students, and researching women in american history - and contributions they made to the revolutionare and civil wars - this would also be a good program - i could do it, or there is a wonderful program which i attended at retired educators meeting - about women of the civil war - the person charges $300 , but has several wonderful programs on self esteem, contributions of women throughout history --- one of the many lessons i have learned at GCI is that the young women today don't have a clue of what girls went through even ten years ago - those who have been housemothers for a long time have noted the changes in attitude, and the totally clueless ideas about what women went through, not only for equality, but to be treated as fellow citizens and, indeed, human beings - terry Immediate Action Needed on S 277 IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED on S277Take Action! Serve America Act The U.S. Senate is preparing to vote THIS WEEK (week of 3/23) on S.277, the Serve America Act, which would expand community service and volunteerism opportunities for people of all ages. According to the National Council of Nonprofits*, the legislation would more than triple the number of service positions by growing AmeriCorps volunteers from 75,000 to 250,000, and creating volunteer programs focused on education, health care, clean energy and veterans. Also included are a Volunteer Generation Fund to help organizations recruit and manage volunteers; a Social Innovation Fund to increase private and public investment in nonprofit community organizations that are effectively addressing national and local challenges to allow such organizations to replicate and expand successful initiatives; and more. The Serve America Act would provide a much-needed infusion of new volunteers and resources for our nation's charitable community. If you no longer wish to receive e-mail from us, please click here.
