Guest guest
we no longer have a 'transition " mtg, now we have " re-evaluation planning meeting " . at our old trans. mtg we would discuss possible placement for the next year and get perm to eval. Now at the re-eval plan mtg, we discussed the child's strengths w/ all of the therapists (or at least their input on paper, if they were unable to attend), school psych, teacher and family; and we got perm to eval. No discussion about placement. That now takes place after the IEP mtg. The idea is that the IEP and the services needed will guide us to the proper placement. We can discuss the results of testing at the IEP mtg or have a seperate mtg before the IEP to discuss results. I think a transition mtg is still a good idea especially if you don't have a " re-eval plan mtg " , which to me is a similar idea, just w/o all of the same parts. I'd like to have an idea of where my child would go for the next year (not only school, but which classroom - reg kdg, kdg for children w/ disabilities, pull out, etc), what type of therapy(s). You may want to bring up the idea of what if my child has problems in the clasroom, will someone (intervention specialist, parapro, etc) be there for him tohelp him answering/ask questions, sound out words, etc. Sometimes are apraxic kids need some extra help. Good luck, Bonnie ---
Guest guest
Thanks for your help. I'll talk to the SLP about setting up something, whatever she decides to call it. > > we no longer have a 'transition " mtg, now we have " re-evaluation > planning meeting " . at our old trans. mtg we would discuss possible > placement for the next year and get perm to eval.
