Guest guest
Does anyone else have concerns about the Vitamin E from Vitamin World. I purchased the high gamma and it says on the back not to be taken by children under 18. The other Vitamin E that I purchased that was the mixed tocopherols didn't mention that? Just wondering. Guest guest
Can anyone recommend a vitamin e liquid to take? Megafood brand Complete 8 was recommended by a nutritionist, but I only find it as capsules, and it seems liquid would be easier. Is there a recommendation for how much alpha and how much gamma? Thanks, Dara
Guest guest
Hi Dara, Happy St. Patty's Day (don't know if I said that here today yet!) Back a year or so ago when many of us were still exploring extra vitamin E (prior to the complications reported as you can read here /links/Pharma_Omega_Spea\ k_reports_from_group_001224703760/ ) most of us including me found success with a 1/1 ratio of alpha to gamma 200/200 -but just checked and vitamin world and vitamin shoppe doesn't appear to have the formulas most of us used anymore -and it hasn't come up so this is the first time I searched for it. The closest I found was a 400/400 and me personally after reading what I did when I did my homework (after the fact unfortunately) I wouldn't want my child on anything near 400 based on this meta-analysis from 2005 http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/0000605-200501040-00110v1 But actually my son can't be on any extra vitamin E since what happened -it's all in the archives as to what happened/happens. I don't know what brand to recommend to be honest -in my son he seemed to need the 1/1 balance of alpha and gamma when he was on it -anything different and he regressed, so perhaps if I had kept him on the 1/1 none of what happened would have? Don't know and who knows when anyone will. Also keep in mind that there is vitamin E in the fish oils most of us use as they are there for 2 reasons -to stabilize the oils -and I know Nordic raised the E in 2002 or 2003 (?) due to a study then that showed that long term supplementation of fish oils can create a vitamin E deficiency. Do your own research is the best advice I can give you and don't just follow the advice of some nutritionist -or even some doctor/s. It's your child -your most precious child -please do the research as you are -and know all the pros...as well as all the cons. Tocopherol supplement by Ray Sahelian, M.D. Information on alpha tocopherol, gamma tocopherol complex " The ideal dosage and frequency of intake is currently not known. Research does point to the fact that high doses may be counterproductive. If someone were to supplement with vitamin E, daily amounts should be less than 200 units, and it is highly recommended that vitamin E be natural and include most of the different forms of vitamin E, such as alpha, delta, gamma tocopherols, etc since in foods we find many different forms. Guest guest
Hi Dara, We use the same Vit E. I just pierce the capsule with a needle and squeeze it into his chocolate rice milk (or whatever food your child will eat/drink!). -Jenna Weil (mom to Larsyn and Chance) > > Can anyone recommend a vitamin e liquid to take?
