Program Description

Social competence is a salient factor in predicting learning and mental

health outcomes particularly for children with neuro-developmental

disorders, executive dysfunction, learning disabilities, and attention

deficit hyperactivity disorder. By understanding how brains process social

information differently we can learn how to intervene effectively at younger

ages. Diagnostic challenges and strategies for intervention and remediation

will be discussed from the perspective of researchers, evaluators,

educators, speech and language pathologists and mental health clinicians.

Followed by a panel comprised of; local mental health practitioners, school

specialists, and child advocates, who will provide you with concrete

resources in working with this population.

Conference Objectives

Participants will increase their knowledge and understanding regarding:

Neurobiological bases of Social Communications Disorders; Characteristics
