I have been a member of this group for a while now. Mostly reading, rarely

posting. I have a six year old kindergartner with apraxia, epilepsy,

fine/gross motor delays and diagnosed as mildly mentally retarded.

We live in California now. Lots of supports and services. In a good

program with the school district. He's happy, we're happy.

My husband just got a transfer to Fairbanks, AK. Anyone in Alaska on this

group?

I feel like I've just gotten up to speed on everything here, where we live,

and now moving to another state, to a remote town, has me really concerned.

I live in Chugiak, AK about 30 miles north of Anchorage. I don't

know how much I help I can be since it isn't hte same school district

but if you need anything feel to e-mail me privately. It doesn't have

be about Special Ed issues.

I can't believe how many Alaskans are lurking on here!  I'm in Anchorage and

have an almost 3 year old about to enter the school district.   I would welcome

the opportunity to exchange notes with other Alaskans so please feel free to

email me off list at marjoriealaska@...

Dylan,

I forgot to mention that my child has epilepsy (infantile spasms now general

epilepsy) and I can reassure you personally about the pediatric neurologist up

here who is located in Anchorage but treats all the kids in the state. He is

wonderful and smart and we're very lucky to have him.
