Guest guest
Tanner recently has been deciding on a career change (he's now around 12 and a half) and he's decided he no longer wants to be a chef -he wants to be a lawyer because he's " very good at arguing " . (Tanner is good at making his point but he is a sweetie -it's very rare to hear him argue with anyone, even his brother and him rarely fight) He says this morning " I just hope my speech thing doesn't get in the way " So Glenn said " By the time you grow up that won't be an issue " and I said " If it still is an issue you can be a special education attorney and fight to help kids like you get appropriate placements and therapies in school " So Tanner thought about it and decided that he wants to be an attorney to protect the children. So I asked " because you want to help children like you? " and he said " I want to be a lawyer for children because the schools won't come after me. If I put a man that kills in jail for years he may come after me after he sits in jail all those years. Eeeeek " (and he made a face) Actually Tanner doesn't really know how hard it is for most children like him as I've advocated for him to be in appropriate mainstream since kindergarten. He's been a great student, and is very active in sports with lots of friends. In addition where we live now he isn't exposed to other children with speech issues like himself -so he just doesn't know. Innocence right now is bliss. =====
