Guest guest
My 5yo has apraxia, motor planning delay, SPD and fine motor delays. He still uses palmer grip when holding a pencil. Is there a musical instrument to help with finger strength? I thought about piano class but want to hear from people whom have been there, done that. He is in lots of therapies and activities (speech, ot, pt, swimming, hippotheray, and Little Gym) and I wanted to make sure that I am not wasting money and time that he can spend elsewhere. Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure if you want independent finger movement or hand strengthening. If he move each finger independently, then piano is great. Keyboarding will help with this skill as well. There are some good exercises NACD has. One is to touch each finger independently to the thumb. This is not really strenghening, but mobility. If you are looking for actual strenthening, you can try theraputty, knead balls.
