Years and years ago, I used to use a spray.  I'm sure that they are still

around, as they were very effective.  You just open your mouth and spray the

back of your throat.  It doesn't so much help it go away as it is a symptomatic

relief.  I am assuming that it is for a child who can't gargle yet.  This would

work.
