Guest guest
Re: BULLYING I am a former school counselor who trained administration, social workers, student assistant professionals, teachers, other counselors and students in my school district (prior to having my kids) about bullying. Here is a simple way for kids to understand: horseplay is when everyone is laughing and having fun. bullying is when only one person is laughing -- the one who is bullying. For older kids there is a criteria: The Double I-R Criteria I = intentional (was the behavior done on purpose?) I = imbalanced (there has to be a power differential -- imbalance can be actual or perceived -- ex.) a bigger child bullying a smaller child/a child feeling that another child is smarter R = repeated behavior (this criteria is outlined in the book, Bullybusters by Dr. Arthur Horne now retired professor at The University of GA) Also -- there is a difference between tattling and reporting information... tattling is just to get someone in trouble and reporting information saves someone from further harm or injury. Hope this helps.
