With all of the potentially scary posts lately, I just had to share my

son's latest triumph:

We were eating dinner out last night, and with his face smeared with

mac n cheese, he starts kicking his feet against his high chair and

smiles the biggest smile I have ever seen and says " HAPPY! "

I could not believe it! He has never once been able to share an

emotion with me before. I am over the moon happy. He asked his frst

question a few weeks ago and now sharing feelings! That is progress.

I am just trying to enjoy this moment and not dissect what could be

causing it (we stopped speak yesterday and went back to proefa).

Best of luck to everyone, and please don't forget to enjoy every

success right now. It is so easy to get bogged down in all that is

happening. We all want the best for our kids...just don't forget to

celebrate when the very best is happening right in front of your eyes!

Brady was on speak for 11 days. 6 days of 1 pill, the rest were 2

pills (all once a day). He had quite a few new words on speak, it

was just this whole new level of language usage that realy thrilled

me. The oils along brought words (for which I will be ever

thankful), but never this.

As of right now, we do not have Brady on speak. We are going to give

the 2 proefa and 1 proepa formula and see where that takes us (prior

to speak we had not added epa yet).

I most definitely feel conflicted by this, BUT we were going to have

take Brady off of oils all together in 2 weeks for his evaluations in

late Oct. and early Dec. anyways. I really feel like Brady does well

on speak, but I can't have him on it without specific recommendations

on dosage by professionals who know his case. I think it will be on

an individual basis, not the panacea that we all thought it would be.

I will make sure we document any regressions when off speak, and when

we are off oils completely and share with the group.

I just wanted to write an update about how Brady is doing off speak,

but on 2 EFA and 1 EPA per day. We have seen no regressions. In

fact, his focus and desire to participate in his at-home therapy has

continued. Today he told me " happy day " which came out " happy day-o "

as he continues to put -o and -a on the end of words. He also

said " mommy do " . He's never used the word " do " before, let alone in

a 2-word phrase to ask me to do something.

Next week we begin taking Brady off oils in preparation for his appts.
