Guest guest
This is my first post and please help with your suggestions. My son is 2.8 yrs and is on the milder side of the spectrum. He can make sentences (Put 6 words together) but his articulation is very poor that it is very difficult to understand. He makes all the sounds and words well in isolation when prompted but it goes bad when he forms sentences. He was on NordicNat Omega 3 for past 8 months and now I have him on 2 PROefa a day (About a month now)upon reading and I am trying to add VIT E. We are seeing a SLP for the past 3 months who is working with him using Prompt but feels he is not making adequate progress. He has trouble making " H " sounds like in HAT, HOW (say as " AT " " ow " ) and that is what we have been working on for 3 months now. SLP says he does not produce enough air from his diaphragm to get that sound and we do blowing/chewing excersices with him daily but still not much impact. Are we doing the right intervention? Is Kaufman model better than prompt in this case? He now does not like us correcting him for pronouciation of " H " words. He says " dont say that " when we ask him to repeat " H " words. Can AIT Tomatis or some of those help him? I am confused and want to head in the right direction. I appreciate any help / suggestion. Thanks, Sami.
