Guest guest
Hmmm just read this one via a new follower at Twitter who is an SLP. She claims in her article that SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT of children diagnosed with what she called (so we know she's not a member of our group) 'childhood apraxia of speech' are misdiagnosed...and further more don't even have a severe speech impairment. " according to the experts " She also proceeded to attack neurologist exams saying they can't diagnose apraxia and only an SLP can. I just sent her back two direct messages one asking her who the experts are as I'd like to speak to them as I've heard far more about misdiagnosis of autism then apraxia and I also sent her a direct message that apraxia and dyspraxia are typically not limited to affecting motor planning of speech and that a neurologist can confirm or rule out soft signs. But after reading her article again...I just sent out this tweet " TheLateTalker Apraxia is virtually unheard of but allegedly according to one SLP blog 75% are misdiagnosed...does that leave 3 apraxics on the planet? ha " OK ready to read it? (from the website run by Isa Marrs -article by Isa) And when you click on the link for who the " expert in childhood apraxia of speech is " ready for this? (this is too good) it takes you to ISA's page!!!! Seventy Five Percent Of Apraxia Cases Wrongly Diagnosed by Isa Marrs http://www.speechlanguagefeeding.com/seventy-percent-apraxia-cases-wrongly-diagn\ osed By the time this posted here much more back and forth with this woman on Twitter- too much to post here -but in a nutshell. (yeah I'll leave it at that...nutshell) Also special thanks to Kaufman who was able to calm me down. =====
