Guest guest
On the 30 of this month, we are scheduled for an ARD meeting for my 3 yr olds annual meeting. His teacher wants me to bring some ideas for goals that we can get him to try to accomplish. But I am not sure what she means EXACTLY! Do I go in there and say I want my son to be able to read by the end of next year? Do I say we need to find the exact science of keeping his fits under control? Do I just say he needs to know how to color within the lines? Or, how about getting him used to other colors and other objects than those that he already has such a connection with? I know he has made so much progress this year. His speech has improved tremendously. His behavior still has some ironing out to be done. He is extrememly intelligent-borderline genious. (That's not just a mother talking.) He just can't verbalize what he wants to. His tantrums due to his lack of communication has tuned down a bit. But he still has tantrums like you can't believe. He is in a PPCD class all day now. Next fall, he will go to Pre-K half a day and PPCD half a day. Both are at the same school. At 3 years old, he rides the bus to and from school like a big kid. My 9 year old rides with him. But the bus has boosted his esteem in a big way. His confidence has shot through the roof this year. I want him to continue to progress. So what are some realistic goals for him? ( By the way, he already knows all of his lettersby sight and can write them, numbers 1-10, shapes and colors. He does puzzles fast and way above his age level. He also signs alot. He can read my family's names. I think that is really impressive for a 3 year old.)
