Hi all!

My name is Christy and I'm new to this list and I actually have a few

questions for you veterans!

My son is 2 1/2 and was just diagnosed by an SLP with Apraxia. He

doesn't say any words but he does imitate animal sounds and says

things like uh oh, woah, etc.

He is on day 7 of a GFCF diet and I'm waiting on my Nordic Natural

supplements.

He has developmental therapy one time per week and I'm waiting on his

speech therapy to begin but that will only be one time every other

week because that is the only availability of any of the SLP's that

work with our early intervention program.

I would like to start working with him more intensely on my own but

I'm not sure where to start. I was checking out the Teach Me To Talk

DVD and was wondering if anyone here has tried it. It seems pretty

pricey at $40+ for a DVD. But it also seems like it would have a lot

of good tips and information.

I also am having trouble wrapping my head around squeezing in my own

'therapy sessions'. I also have a 5 year old and a 1 1/2 year old to

deal with. Does anyone have any advice on working with an Apraxic

child WITH other children around? I'm one of those parents that isn't

much into playing with my kids. I interact with them all day long,

but actually sitting down and playing, I haven't been up to par with

that. :( I am, however, willing to change for the sake of my little

boy! :)

So, any and all advice and encouragement would be so appreciated!!

Thank you!

Christy
