Guest guest
I gave my son fisdh oils since he was a few weeks old. He is now 19months. I had a natural doc " scribe " it to me and he gave me some brand from the office that you can get by script BUT no need to do this- Nordic naturals is great!! I did that when I ran out of his and switched back and forth. I don't have the amts since I am not near my notes - sorry - but I know the body needs quite a bit since we can't get what the body needs from diet alone. Get a liquid and squirt it in with one of those medicine droppers- the flavored ones are tasty. I was never fond of the DHAs and such they put into baby foods/drinks etc. I like my EFAs from fish not algae. And the balance is way off when they add it into foods like that. Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone with SprintSpeed [ ] Fish oils for babies? Has anyone ever given a baby any dosage of fish oil supplement? My 2.5 yo daughter is receiving speech therapy for suspected apraxia, and I've begun giving her Nordic Naturals Complete 3-6-9 formula. Now my 10-month old son has refused to nurse and likewise refuses bottles or cups, filled with either formula or even juice. I am only able to sneak in about 6 oz. of formula per day into his cereal, both of which are supplemented with DHA and ARA. I can give him other dairy products too, but I'm worried that he's not going to have the proper amount of EFAs. The label on the supplement for teh Children's version says for age 5+, which obviously, I disregard since I give it to my 2 year old. I was just wondering if anyone had any strong advice or opinions regarding the littlest one taking a small dosage. I'm not even going there with the pediatrician, as you know exactly what spiel they're going to give me.... Thanks!
Guest guest
I personally think EFA's are good for everyone, including babies. My babies were on a homemade formula that included cod liver oil from the time they were newborns. Christy > > Has anyone ever given a baby any dosage of fish oil supplement? Guest guest
About EFAs in cereals and formulas: Yeah, they don't put any kind of clear breakdown on teh packaging as to exactly what's in there, so that's almost a clue that they probably aren't putting exactly what I'm after....I didn't know they came from algae. Huh, interesting... Thanks everybody for the replies...I'm def going to score the right formula and give it to my little self-weaning squirt! Thanks! ~abby > > I gave my son fisdh oils since he was a few weeks old. He is now 19months.
